About Me
Who am I?
I am a 22-year-old student at Tartu Vocational College specializing in software development. I am very outgoing and social person and thanks to this trait, I have gotten to meet so many wonderful and inspiring people. I have to say, besides sports, I am into technology and recently I found a passion for being a creator aka programmer. I am currently working on various school projects to enhance my skills and gain practical experience in the field. I am not the quickest learner, but when it clicks for me, I can be very productive and efficient. I am a very determined person, which can be overwhelming for me sometimes because I take on too much at once. Plus side of this is that it has taught my brain to work efficiently even under pressure or stress. I asked my close friend to describe me with two words. Their answer was: "sociable and curious".
How I got started.
I first took interest in coding when I was studying at Our Lady of the Lake University, majoring as an IT specialist. In one of the courses for this major I had to code with Python, which was my first programming language that I learned. Python was fundamental to the career path that I chose. After I learned Python I wanted to gain more knowledge and skill in the programming world, that is why I started my studies at VOCO a junior software developer.
Where have I gotten so far.
By now I have done projects using HTML/CSS, JavaScript, React.js, I have used different frameworks for frontend development like Tailwind and Bootstrap. I also have experience creating databases with MySQL and using phpMyAdmin.
What's next?
Now that I am applying for an internship, my goal is to gain real-world experience and deepen my understanding of development processes. I am highly motivated to work on the next level to gain more experience and knowledge in this field, establish new connections and have a small role in projects. I like the sense of team spirit. In 3 years I see myself working in the private sector as a junior developer focusing on developing applications, fixing bugs, and designing UI's.
Interesting fact.
At the university I also played basketball where I won the 2023/24 conference championship. I find playing basketball a crucial part of my life which has taught me important skills such as taking on the leadership role, teamwork, and communication. To this day I still play basketball for Estonian University of Life Science men's basketball team.
Some of my hobbies.
I am also a really outdoorsy person. So besides writing code and playing basketball I really enjoy hiking, skiing, and playing padel. I would say my favourite hobby is to hike. Hiking helps me really clear my mind and focus on my thoughts- this is where my best ideas spark.
